| The amazing production of "Chicago" at Long Beach Civic Light Opera in 1992 in considered by many to be the catalyst for the Broadway revival and subsequent film. Directed by Rob Marshall and choreographed by Ann Reinking, it starred Bebe Neuwirth and Juliet Prowse (a late replacement for Reinking, apparently). Gary Sandy was Billy, but the other big draw for fans was that Barney Martin and M. O'Haughey reprised their Broadway roles, and the original sets were used. I was lucky enough to see it twice. |
