I'm currently working on a project involving CAROUSEL and I have a question about the 2018 Broadway revival. Having seen the production once, I seem to remember that the first act ended immediately following the "Soliloquy." Joshua Henry's performance of that number was so overwhelmingly powerful, it seemed the only response was to ring down the curtain and take a break. But having recently read the script of the show, I was reminded that that's not how Act One ends. There's a substantial scene with all the principals preparing to head out to the island, and then a brief reprise of "June Is Bustin' Out All Over." Am I remembering this wrong? If not, did the production cut that scene, which includes important plot information, or do it after the intermission? I could go to the Lincoln Center library and watch the recording, but I feel confident at least one person on here will have the answer. Thanks in advance! |
