You're just saying that two roles he's played have those notes, are you sure he actually sang them, or sang them every night? Or that the score weren't relaxed to fit his strengths?

He has a very very unimpressive and frankly not good enough voice for a Broadway lead who would do actual singing roles. I don't really care if he can technically hit the notes if he doesn't sound good and confident and wonderful doing it.
People were very generous about his vocal and, sorry, his acting work in Merrily. And H2S. I really like him in general, but I think he's been given far far more generosity than someone who wasn't a global movie star with millions of fans. I'm ok with it because he genuinely loves and is committed to plays and musicals, and brings a lot of people to the ones he does, and I think he's solid, but let's not go crazy.
