So... I was at the Jessica Phillips performance Saturday night.

Got there around 7:30 to get in line - having bought my ticket around 10am at the box office with no notice of anything amis.

There were a lot of extra staff outside yelling that Idina was out - to the right for refunds and to the left if you want to see the show with the understudy and they passed out sheets of paper to email for a free ticket to a future performance.

I stayed and emailed the address, but no notice yet about a future ticket as of yet. I'm sure they were inundated!

As for the Jessica, she was great! One mild text stumble and that was it. She mimics Idina's voice and if you closed your eyes, you might actually be fooled that it is Idina. Since the show is basically a 2 hour concert and the lead only leaves the stage a very few times to get a drink of water and let one of the other actors sing a song, I can see why the actress for each show must be in very good health. She also has to climb a tree, not be afraid of heights, be in the middle of dizzying full stage projects, while being traumatized about an event and have to emotionally work through that for two hours.

Will I go back to see Idina, if I do get the replacement ticket. Absolutely. There is a warmth and magnetic nature to Idina that counteracts her pitchiness (I'm a little worried for 2 straight hours if it's a tough night for her) that would make it worth seeing it again. Jessica doesn't waver in her voice, so if you want to hear the music as written, she may be the better bet!

Who would I invite to this show? Mm.. Maybe my mom, but it was over 2 hours with no intermission! People were about to burst. It's kind of like a Hallmark movie, but with the meet cute being a tree.

** I liked If/Then better... There was a story there and it was interesting to keep up with and you got lots of Idina. This show doesn't realllly have a story. It's more like a thoughtful documentary and therapy session.
