| Well, Godspell lost to Annie and Pippin lost to A Little Night Music, so those aren’t chicken feed and very understandable. Wicked was a bit of a victim of its own success and that was a weird year when there was this real bandwagon behind the underdog Avenue Q. Schwartz was nominated for two absolute bombs, Rags and Working. And he was given the Isabelle Stevenson Award by the Tonys in 2015. So I don’t sense a real antipathy, at least from the Tonys. I think it’s been more of a case of timing. |
