Don't get me wrong I LOVE Akers, but I have heard her referred to as more vocalist than actress, that might be part of it.
You made me go down a rabbit hole and it turns out a lot of the glorious creatures (said with a positive spin) Tommy Tune worked with did little to no Broadway after either Nine, Grand Hotel or both.
Shelly Burch, Kathi Moss, Anita Morris, Liliane Montevecchi, Karen Akers, Camile Saviola (one credit post Nine), Michael Jeter. Probably more. I went for the more leading roles.
All the more reason to be grateful that Akers found so much exposure as a recording and cabaret artist. |
