Overall, it's not a laugh-a-minute outrage like Dance of the Vampires. A lot of it is simply boring. It's like a Wikipedia entry for Tammy with some banal songs -- generic versions of a bunch of different music genres of the last half of the 20th century, when, I guess, Elton John was still listening to contemporary music. But there are some mind-blowing moments of over-the-top (and laughable) visual and audible outrages that can keep you entertained through the boring parts. It starts with a show curtain that shouldn't be missed. It features a large image of Tammy's eyes that just before the show starts shows tears and running mascara. That alone can be worth the price of admission. Otherwise, it's a really ugly production. The bank of TV sets stretched across the back of the set and are the central part of the set are really boring except when they are excessive. It reminded me of the boxes that sunk Best Little Whorehouse Goes Public. Again, I'm glad I saw it. I'll never forget it. |
