That two black women are justified in robbing white people? And the ending (I wonder if it is true) that Mary left her husband after stealing his money because his family owned a plantation that he sold? He was willing to be a criminal in the eyes of the law to remain married to a black woman he truly loved. She left and stole from him because of her obligation to her predecessors injustices (slavery). It’s a very sad ending that she gives up her happiness because her sister guilts her into it. He most likely would have been happy to use the money to buy the mother’s sharecropper farm for the black farmers to own.
