| Valentines Day 2001 I'm seeing "The Producers" for the 2nd time and when Max is about to visit the accounting firm I'm hearing mumbling as if body mics were still on. The show stopped and Matthew Broderick came out stating "Is there a doctor in the house?". A man in the balcony had a heart attack.... I found out after the show from Jimmy Borstelmann he had passed away before he got to the hospital. I was in Nyack for "Company" later that year when 5 minutes into the 2nd Act the fire alarm goes off and since I'm am Mr Aisle Seat I was outside the Helen Hayes in seconds! The fire department arrived and all looked like they came from Central Casting ( this was before digital cameras %$#@! ). It was a false alarm ( firefighter jargon ) and the show continued which was "Side By Side" as the audience clapped along! PS: I got a ride back to NYC in the cast van... I'm chatting with Alix Korey and in a break of our conversation I hear Donna McKechnie in front of me saying "So I walk into my dressing room and THERE she is in MY costume!" PSS: Before on stage water bottles were a thing Lily Tomlin stated "I'm sorry but I need a drink of water". She walked off stage and came back where she was like dropping a needle on to a record! The audience applauded. It's live theater! |
