The problem might be more in how Buddy wants to alter the plot so that the racial conflict between Munoz and Stone disappears (when Stine give in to this, the result is the confrontation of "You're Nothing Without Me"). And the song, clever as it is, relies on some Latino stereotypes (Mexican food giving you gas, etc) that might seem a bit out of place now.
