I don't get the sense that Patti is a big fan of Kander and Ebb. Or vice versa. I mean musically. Although she certainly has a lot of vendettas. Said with humor, she's my fave. I have seen a lot of Patti concerts and have never once heard her cover a K&E song, nor on any recording. I also think she is too old (75). Although she was my dream casting for this a few decades ago. Perhaps with Leslie Kritzer.
Although not in New York there have been several productions in the UK, including the West End, one of which spawned a second cast recording by Jay. None of them seemed to have crakced the code of this flop. |
