For those of us that are life long fans and are privileged to have this film available, this is an absolute must see! For everyone else, come join us. A celebratory documentary about survival, finding your lifelong friends in your tribe who become your family. A wonderful lesson for all of us to surround ourselves with loving, supportive people and detox from those that zap you of your energy and soul. Liza's career is revisited by paying tribute to those that were behind her creatively, starting with of course, her mother and father, Kay Thompson, Fred Ebb, John Kander, Bob Fosse, Charles Aznavour, Halston, as well as her current friends Michael Feinstein, Mia Farrow, the late Chita Rivera, the late Allen Lazare and his living wife, Arlene and her makeup artist, Christina Smith, among others. Some surprisingly weren't included: Marvin Hamlisch, Gwen Verdon, (her contribution to the film Cabaret is everything), Billy Stritch, (I wonder if the latter had a falling out and didn't want to be mentioned?), and the legendary dance teacher Luigi, who Liza mentioned in the past that she took his jazz class every single day. Nonetheless, if you need to be uplifted from all of the doom and gloom of our world on February 4, 2025, do yourself a favor and go see this movie.
