Honestly I do think this is a shame, unless they were unavailable. How are actors supposed to become known, or "names" if they are replaced by "bigger" actors right when the role/play that might break them happens and moves to Broadway?

And frankly, while of course LaTanya Richardson and Kara Young are known actors that would entice people with their participation... I am not sure that either of them actually make much of a difference at the box office that it's worth robbing these original actors of their chance to become the next LaTanya or Kara...

I'd love to know if it was simply that the original actors were unavailable but I find it extraordinarily unlikely that either of these Chicago stage actors wouldn't be or become available to do a new play by one of the hottest playwrights alive, let alone THE most respected black playwright, where they as black actors would get to create new roles in his new play on Broadway...besides the pay of a Broadway production, the exposure, the awards nomination potential... but that BOTH would be unavailable? And these were actors doing roles that are big/juicy enough to make LaTanya and/or Kara want to commit to the run.... come on.
