The Dramatists Guild, whose leader has been credibly accused of poor ethics when it comes to protecting a member’s IP, has a proprietary approach to authorship that refuses to acknowledge the contributions of anyone who is the credited author. It serves their members, but it also exploits people who aren’t members who contribute to the work… and I say this as someone who has worked in both capacities on new plays.
