Well, it may be a stretch to call the movie "a very popular movie"... it certainly caught on as a cult favorite, and me and many of my friends love it and would want to see the musical just for the title. And yes there are a lot of gay men and women who feel this way. I'm not sure that it's enough to fill 1500 seats a night at broadway prices.
I think it's selling well because word is that it's hilarious, a great time and a great show. Whether it's a great *musical* is for each person to decide. |
