| Those grosses are astonishing! ''Wicked'' reached $5,037,392 (with 9 shows); the previous week, it grossed $3,024,095. That's a $2 million jump. Is that a record? Have any other Broadway shows have breached $5 million? No. 2 is ''The Lion King,'' doing $4,209,121 with 9 performances. A real surprise: Who guessed ''The Great Gatsby,'' with only 1 Tony nomination (and win for costumes), would do $2.6 million? Its top ticket is $674! Good news for ''Maybe Happy Ending,'' which reached $1 million, and ''The Outsiders,'' the Tony winner for Best Musical, topped $2 million. Play-wise, only ''Harry Potter'' cracked the $2 million club. And ''Oh, Mary!'' is at $1.3 million. But who knew top ticket at ''Romeo + Juliet'' is $974.50? |
