Hecht is giving a remarkable, multidimensional performance in this wickedly clever play. In the fast paced 95 minutes, she spins a rising force of antagonism into a thoughtful focal point, leaving us to ponder - in hindsight - the ways a structurally anointed near villain is actually Spector’s protagonist. When the satire turns dramedy, it’s Hecht’s Suzanne who negotiates a pivot in tone that is as satisfying as it is earned. Gray and Irwin are very fine but it’s Hecht who haunts us, ensuring that the play’s all too timely take on vaccines lands with more than a wink. A great career high for this deservedly respected actor.
