I think she sounds rather remarkable in the clips, the sublime instrument repurposed in a very elegant Rose characterization without the Brooklyn blare or vowels of Merman. She intuitively and wisely found a genetic origin story for this Rose that matches her own - nothing borrowed - and it’s no less authentic within the world-building of this specific production. And no less fierce.
