Below is some totally unnecessary musing on these two as box office casting... please ignore this useless mind stream. They seem like really good choices. Though... outside of a month or two I'm not sure how much action their names specifically will bring to the box office. Many millions of people watched and loved her on Modern Family for a decade, but she is not one of the leads (and was missing from the show, as I recall, for a long time), and never became a household name from it like Sophia, Ty, Julie, Jesse and Eric did. I assume her photo and "Modern Family's" next to her name in a lot of the marketing will help. Ryan I think has a notable following and fan base from his particular career in musicals and the Disney show, but I doubt the common theater goer or tourist will know his name or face (or what Heathers or Liv & Maddie are) unless they have teenage or 20 something daugthers (and gay sons lol). But at least it feels like appropriate casting. I was kind of expecting them to have managed to get 2 bigger name replacements, but for the same reasons I outlined in another post about why the prospects of Eva doing and staying in this show are so different than they were for Saigon or Hades, maybe singing actors with bigger box office power didn't think it was the best use of their time especially as replacements. |
