| My Dad took me, as Rex Harrison had been a major crush of mine when I was 6 or 7!!! We sat in the balcony, & the play itself was over my 11 year-old head - maybe cause the production felt a bit stiff? But it was magic to see Harrison onstage, & I fell in love with Elizabeth Ashley's voice...:) :) Till age 16, before the performance of any Broadway show I attended, I would leave a letter for an actor I wanted to meet briefly backstage after the show...so many were accommodating, but my heart broke when I waited & waited in a chair outside Harrison's dressing room & eventually an assistant emerged with just an autographed PLAYBILL...ah, well. He may well have been depressed re how the production as going!!!!! |
