I always thought it was interesting how Glenn Close, Kevin Spacey and Kelly McGillis had been cast to replace the RSC actors but the producers decided to close the show instead due to poor box office.
Had they let it run I think it would have coincided with the release of Fatal Attraction. Glenn Close was the most talked about woman in the country and might have been a draw.
