NEW MUSICAL BEGINS PERFORMANCES JANUARY 24, 2025

AHEAD OF FEBRUARY 13, 2025 OPENING

New York, NY (December 3, 2024) — Redwood producers Eva Price, Caroline Kaplan and Loudmouth Media are pleased to announce that the show will celebrate its official box office opening on Friday, December 6, 2024 with a special in-person lottery. Idina Menzel, the Tony Award-winning star of the highly anticipated new Broadway musical Redwood, will be on-hand to draw lottery winners at 10 am ET on December 6 at the Nederlander Theatre (208 West 41st Street). Winners will have the opportunity to purchase $20 front orchestra tickets to the first performance of the show on January 24, 2025. Rehearsals for the production began this week, and Redwood's official opening night is set for February 13, 2025.

The $20 ticket price for lottery winners is a nod to RENT, which opened in 1996 at the Nederlander Theatre and marked Menzel's Broadway debut. That show was also the first to offer an in-person ticket lottery.

LOTTERY DETAILS: Redwood lottery entrants can enter their names for 1 or 2 tickets beginning at 9 am ET in person at the Nederlander Theatre on Friday, December 6, 2024. All names must be entered by 10 am, at which time the drawing will begin. Those whose names are chosen can purchase up to two $20.00 tickets (cash or credit card) for the show's first preview on January 24, 2025. Entrants must be present at the time of the drawing to win tickets and must present a valid ID which matches the name submitted. Non-winners will have the opportunity to purchase tickets for preview performances at a special price, $55.00 for the mezzanine, $75.00 for the orchestra, that morning only.

Written and directed by Tony Award-nominee Tina Landau, with music by Kate Diaz, and lyrics by Diaz and Landau, Redwood is conceived by Landau and Menzel, with additional contributions by Menzel.

In addition to Menzel, the cast of Redwood includes Tony Award nominee De'Adre Aziza (Passing Strange), Michael Park (Dear Evan Hansen), Zachary Noah Piser (Dear Evan Hansen), and Khaila Wilcoxon (SIX), with Daniel Brackett (Aladdin), Bradley Dean (The Last Ship), Veronica Otim (& Juliet) and Jessica Phillips (Dear Evan Hansen).

Redwood is a transportive new musical about one woman's journey into the precious and precarious world of the redwoods. Jesse (Menzel) seems to have it all — a successful career and devoted family — until a life-altering event drives her far from everyone and everything she knows. When she finds herself at the foot of the redwoods in Northern California, a chance encounter and a leap of faith will change her life forever. Redwood explores the lengths — and heights — one travels to find strength, resilience and healing.

The creative team for Redwood includes Jason Ardizzone-West (Scenic Design), Hana S. Kim (Video Design), Toni-Leslie James (Costume Design), Scott Zielinski (Lighting Design), Jonathan Deans (Sound Design), Melecio Estrella, BANDALOOP (Vertical Movement/Vertical Choreography), Tom Kitt (Music Supervision), and Haley Bennett (Associate Music Supervision), with Orchestrations and Arrangements by Kate Diaz and Music Direction by Julie McBride. Casting is by The Telsey Office/Patrick Goodwin.

Redwood was Originally Developed and Produced by La Jolla Playhouse (Christopher Ashley, Artistic Director & Debby Buchholz, Managing Director), where it premiered earlier this year in a sold-out run.

Tickets (starting at $79.00) for Redwood are available via Broadway Direct or in person at the show's box office. The performance schedule for Redwood previews (January 24 - February 12, 2025) is as follows: Tuesdays - Fridays at 8 pm, Saturdays at 2 pm & 8 pm and Sundays at 2 pm. Beginning February 14, 2025, the performance schedule will shift as follows: Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays at 7 pm, Wednesdays at 2 pm & 7 pm, Saturdays at 2 pm & 8 pm and Sundays at 2 pm.
