I don't question what people you know have said to you anecdotally, but I know plenty of actors who maintain not only a social life but also other work while in demanding roles in shows. It really just depends on the person, just as in other fields. And yes, there are special demands that require adjustments during tech, which affects everyone, and awards season which of course only really affects relatively few people. As others have said, highly demanding jobs are not the exclusive province of actors. I think you could have made your point without overloading it in the way you have.
