"I have seen the current production of Cabaret 4 times both before and after the election and can confirm the audience laughter at the end of “if you could see her through my eyes”. The laughter happened at two shows I attended - one before and one after the election. The first time, it seemed to catch the current emcee, Adam Lambert (who is Jewish), by surprise. The second time it happened, to my delight, Adam immediately turned toward the person who laughed and barked out an aggressive and scarily mocking laugh back at him. As if to show how ugly and despicable that person’s reaction was and shame them. The effect was awesome while keeping in character and without disrupting the flow of the show. As an audience member who was horrified by the laughter that went without a response the first time, it was an inspiring feeling to see what “fighting back” looks like in real-time." From KB Hope Mr. Lambert keeps this in, should it flare up again. |
