The late Ken Page was also pretty terrific. As were Dona McKechnie, Mary Jo Catlett, Carol Lawrence, Carole Cook, and Liz Torres. (Actually one of the more impressive Reprise! casts...)
Vikki Carr sang gorgeously, but was a bit adrift in the book scenes. And Patty Duke got hopelessly lost in her Lucy and Jesse until the ensemble dancers started singing her lyrics to her, and she started saying things like "Yeah! You tell 'em!"
The was also a pretty terrific presentation by Musical Theatre Guild last year. They did the "In concert" version that MTI licenses, and I imagine Pasadena will be using the same one. |
