I just don't get why any investors would consider it a good idea.
And that's not to say that cast isn't great... but I'm not sure they sell tickets the way a show with this size cast and orchestra need to, even without sets. Ragtime does not bring with it what Into the Woods did (be it the built in interest people have with fairy tale characters, and/or the 40 years of the OBC VHS and DVD being part of most theater kids lives, and the show being done at almost every high school and/or college for decades).
I'd love this show and this score to be brought out on Broadway again, but it just seems very unlikely without Anne Hathaway as Mother, Jake Gyllenhaal as Tateh, and Halle Bailey as Sarah. |
