It had some beautiful music, but the book was really dreadful, and the basic premise was frankly distasteful and depressing when moved to the nuclear age. Plus Len Cariou was in vocal trouble from probably doing too much Sweeney Todd (in which he was brilliant!), Liz Robertson had very little stage presence and didn't live up to PR releases about her London Eliza in "My Fair Lady", and I recall any show that made George Rose look bad, has to be bad. I do recall the gay lovers ice skating number as being kind of a humorous touch in an evening which basically depressed me and kept me away from going to the theater for a few months, especially when one considered the names of the creative talent involved.
