Ann, you didn't ask me, but I was fortunate enough to see Michael as John Adams in a production of 1776 in St. Louis in 1990, and he was fantastic. A perfect Adams! I also saw him in the Sid Caesar track in Little Me in St. Louis in the early 1990's.....again, he was incredible. I would think he was at least Martin Short's equal in the later Broadway revival, if not even better. Finally, I saw him play Finch in an odd production of How to Succeed in Business at the St. Louis Muny. I say it was odd because they updated the look (costuming/set) for the show, but didn't update any of the dialogue...so Finch, Rosemary and Smitty were dressed in 1990's attire but still singing about that $1.90 vegetable plate at Stouffer's. McGrath was a delightful Finch in a hit or miss production.
