Encores! / City Center rehearsal time

Does anyone know the typical rehearsal time for something like Ragtime? Is it a similar timeframe as the Encores! season or do these gala presentations get extra time? I saw Ragtime today and was impressed by the depth of everyone's performance, particularly in the book scenes. I was also impressed that there was almost no use of script or score, except in a few (Equity required?) moments.

I know this is a pipe dream, but I would love to see a more fleshed out production design if the production does move to Broadway. What worked for Into The Woods and Parade, and is maybe just barely working for Once Upon a Mattress, feels cheap, hollow, and perhaps confusing in Ragtime. Maybe it's just the recent string of transfers, but I'm feeling a little worn out with the orchestra taking up half the real estate and actors playing everything far downstage with minimal sets.
