That's amazing to me...and since internet cannot convey tone, I don't mean this conscendingly. I have never heard of anyone liking the revised version better than the original. I wish I could sit down with you and have a long talk about it. LOL.

The deceptive simplicity of the original, in which it seems you didn't think there was a set, was a testament to the direction. Of course it might be just a matter of taste, but many of my favorite shows have conceptual scenic designs without a lot of scenery, and many of those are the Hal Prince masterpieces. What I remember most about the revised version set is the projections...another production with projections, oh boy.

They cut around 15 minutes from the original at some point to avoid going into overtime every night to save costs and try to run longer. But the cuts are practically imperceptible because of how they were done, so I don't think they suddenly revealed the heart of the show.

I am genuinely curious if others prefer the revised Les Miz.
