Fair. I was typing out my thought quickly.

But my point stands that this number isn't the kind of dancing the show is known for or that makes you come back again for the choreography. Delightful as it is, and brilliant way of using song and dance in this play. I think this scene/song is one of the greats in all of musicals. One of many examples why Gypsy should be thought of as among the great American plays, not just in the reductive categoryilizing (made up that word) many people mean when they think of musicals and what counts or passes as great writing for musicals.
Just expert drama writing through and with the added tools of song and dance, and so simple, so quietly effective. And at such a great point in the play. The way it doesn't give us a love or young romance song between Tulsa and June to set up them leaving together... because it knows who the real character to focus on is, and the way it helps set up Louise for the full impact of the end of act one, not just Rose who has the big "reacting to June leaving" song. Tulsa leaving too and Louise's reaction are side stepped for Rose. It's so good.
